When I was 13 years old I went on a 14 day canoe trip with ten other girls in southern Ontario, Lake of the Woods. One of the most empowering trips of my life to date. Of course, any food tasted amazing after 6 hours of paddling and waking up at dawn every morning, but oatmeal was my favourite! I believe it was my ultimate breakfast/snack of choice because of both the flavour and the memory of it being a staple morning meal in my house growing up. Still attached to those childhood kitchen-table memories, I find myself now as an adult, having moved away from home, in love with it again.
